Orville Golub passed away September 28, 2015 at the age of 100. His foresight in donating this collection of 160 antique microscopes to the University of California, Berkeley has been and will continue to be an invaluable resource of historical information pertaining to one of the seminal instruments of science—
the microscope.
Orv was a gentleman in the truest sense, and a scholar who continued his educational and scientific interests well past retirement. Our many conversations, as well as his monthly edits of the Featured Microscope ("the MOM") will be sorely missed.
