The base is the "sentry-box" type. It is made of hardwood (possibly oak) with the front cutout for light access, and side cutouts for sample slides. The mirror is single-sided. The left pivot axis has been repaired (poorly).
The box is 6.5cm wide x 6.0cm deep x 12 cm tall.
The threads at the end of the microscope body are for the detachable dust cover.
