The microscope body screws into a cantilever arm, which is attached to the top of the main pillar.
The microscope body is typical of the Gould/Cary style. The body, unfortunately, cannot be disassembled to reveal the field lens. In addition, there are no objectives remaining with this instrument. However, the objectives would have been threaded at both ends to accept the body and to be screwed into the cantilever. This style is exemplified in Microscope No. 47.

The eyepiece consists of two biconvex lenses. Top lens dia=11mm, f=25; Bottom lens dia=15mm, f=30mm.
