This instrument is a very fine and quite rare example of a portable microscope in a French-style green leather case. The microscope itself is a brass Gould-type instrument that can be used in a simple or a compound configuration. It has three different objective lenses that allow magnifications up to approximately 100x, a live-box stage insert, and a simple stage forceps.
This microscope was made in England by Dollond (it is signed Dollond London), but was created for the Continental market by being re-cased in attractive French green leather and lined in red chamois. This microscope is a very rare example of this classic French style. Average height : 22cm ; box : 12×13 cm Featured 02/2023 |
