The microscope is supported by a single round pillar. A brass support limb is cantilevered off the top of the pillar. The microscope support sleeve is screwed into the limb.
The Bull's Eye lens is mounted to the body tube via this articulated arm. Tightening screws add resistance to the articulating ball joints. However, brass is malleable and tends to bend, thus weakening the joints.
The stage is cast brass and hollow. It has two holes: one for the support pillar and the other for the sample.
The slide clip is a single piece connected to a brass sleeve. The sleeve has a flared top allowing it to be easily adjusted.
The substage mirror is set in a gimbal frame, which has a mounting pin. The mirror has one reflecting side, is parabola, and has a diameter of 6.5cm
The mirror mounting pin press-fits into a hole in the descending support pillar.
