Powell & Lealand Model No. 2 stand. This tripod base provides a solid support for the support pillar and microscope components. It is hinged to allow the instrument to be tilted up to a horizontal position. The base is 16cm wide x 19cm deep.
The mirror is double-sided (dia=55mm) with the typical flat and parabolic surfaces. It is attached to the support tube via an articulating arm.
Horizontal position of the Powell & Lealand Model No. 1 microscope. The robust triangular stand was necessary for this common orientation.
Compare Model No. 2 (L) to this example of the P&L Model No. 3. Note the lack of rotating stage and articulating mirror.
