The base of the solar microscope was designed to be attached to an outside shutter. The holes in the square mount are for the mounting bolts. The wingnut at the top rotated the mirror assembly. The wingnut at the bottom tilts the mirror. Adjustment of both would allow for sunlight reflection into the microscope body. Base 17.3x17.3cm.; mirror 19.5x7.3cm, glass is missing.
