Stamped gold decorations
Shagreen body cover, now damaged.
The microscope body is composed of cardboard and wood (possibly Lignum Vitae). The body tube is covered with shagreen. The top sliding tube is covered with fish skin and is decorated in stamped gold. Microscope shown here with eyepiece dust cover removed.
