Components of the Leitz Polarized Light Microscope
Components of the microscope body:
A: Cutout for an Amici-Bertrand lens and Tube Analyzer
B: Compensator slider
C: Objective centering screws
D: Objective clutch
The focusing Huygenian eyepiece has two plano-concave lenses, with the flat side facing up. Top lens dia=10mm, f=35mm; bottom lens dia=19mm, f=60mm. It is focusing to accommodate a reticle.
The polarizer is a Nicol prism embedded in the condenser. It is protected by a flat glass top (L).
The Leitz petrographic microscope has this rotating stage (dia=11cm). The vernier precisely measures rotational angle of the specimen.
