This is a compound monocular with black metal, scalloped sleeve for the brass barrel. It is signed on barrel "Maison de L'Ing. Chevallier, Opt'n.-Place du Pont Neuf, 15 Paris". Has a box with blank glass slides, specimen slides, and glass rods. The Bulls-eye lens is attached to the stage by universal joints. It is missing the objective lens. Jean Gabriel Auguste Chevallier was located at the Place du Pont Neuf 15 in 1838 and afterwards. In 1832 the firm was still at Tour de l'Horloge du Palais 1*. |
