Drawtube used when configured as an upright, compound microscope. A: Eye lenses; B: Field lens
Low magnification objective lenses (A,B) and Amician objective (C). The Amici objective achieves magnification using a reflecting concave surface.
Objectives used for the Upright configuration. Objectives are labeled "1" through "7".
Objective construction showing the single bi-convex lens.
Lieberkuhns used to illuminate opaque samples in the upright microscope.
Lieberkuhn used for the Amician configuration.
Amician magnification is achieved using two mirrors. A flat mirror (A) reflects sample light from the side opening onto concave mirror (B), which reflects it to the eyepiece that further magnifies the image.
