The microscope has a heavy horseshow base, a central compass joint (arrow), and a very fine mechanical stage mechanism.
The stage is rectangular, and made of hard rubber (Vulcanite) on top and chromed metal below.
The mechanical stage mechanism is separate and can be detached. X&Y are controls for stage movement.
