Francoise Vincent Raspail designed the two microscopes shown here. His earliest design is exemplified by the simple microscope on the right. This one, Golub Microscope No. 235 is a single magnifying lens mounted on a cantilevered arm. Raspail's second microscope is a much larger and more complex instrument and is shown on the left. This is Golub microscope No. 287.
Raspail-designed microscopes were made by Louis Joseph Deleuil.
