Three objectives of the Gould-type microscope. Arbitrarily numbered (L-R) 1–3
The Huygenian eyepiece has the eyelens (L) and the field lens, with an aperture between. Both lenses are plano-convex with the flat side facing the user's eye.
The optics consist of A: the eye lens; B: field lens, and C: three objectives. The microscope body tube has no additional lenses.
This instrument can be set up for polarized light microscopy by the addition of the polarizer and analyzer (missing). The polarizer slides into a dovetail mount underneath the stage. The Nicol prism mounted in the polarizer can be rotated by turning the knurled collar.
Dovetail mounting frame for the polarizer.
