The microscope body is supported by this rectangular pillar (12.5cm). The base has a compass joint allowing it to be tilted for easier viewing.
The back of the support pillar has machined teeth and forms the Rack of the R&P focus mechanism.
The number "13" is stamped at the top of the rack. This could be the serial number of the microscope.
The stage consists of two flat pieces. The top piece is pinned to the bottom piece. It acts to hold sample slides in place.
The gimbaled mirror is fixed to the support pillar with a single locating pin. Mirror diameter = 3.0cm
