The mahogany case has an internal drawer. Notice the label "Front". The box is 16.5x11.2x7cm.
The microscope was designed as a travelling, or Naturalist's microscope. It can be stored compactly into the top drawer.
The lower level of the storage case held other accessories, now missing. The Lieberkuhn was stored in the felt-lined circular holder.
