The brass support disassembles to four components. One leg separates and the other two fold. Culpeper made mathematical instruments, one of which was the Sector. Interestingly, he modified the sector by putting a hole in the middle through which the pillar was fastened. In this way he made a tripod stand. The sector is shown on Culpeper's trade card.
The second logo "E. Culpeper Londini" is found on two support legs.
The microscope body attaches to a ball & socket joint (A) with a circular end piece (B). This endpiece inserts into the body mount (C) and is fixed in place with a brass thumbscrew (D).
