The top surface of the microscope box has holes for various components. Lateral to the "condenser" lens (inset in the surface) are holes for the removable stage clips. To the front of the top are two hard wood or lacquered brass holes for accessory devices (the bull's-eye lens for example). The main support shaft can be removed from its circular mount, which itself can be detached from the top by sliding out of the lateral dovetails.
The mirror is flat with only one reflective surface. Tilt angle is controlled by wooden knobs on both sides. The mirror is 8x7cm. Mirror mount is 10x9cm.
This front-mounted aperture wheel has four openings to modulate the amount of light entering the box and reflecting up through the sample. Aperture diameters are: 33mm, 21mm, 21mm, and 17mm. (Two holes are the same size.)
