The main support pillar is inserted into a cylindrical mount (A), that itself is connected via a dovetail (B) to the top of the microscope box. The microscope body is connected to a swivel mount that slides along a triangular support
pillar (C). Focusing is accomplished using a rack and pinion mechanism.
The microscope body is attached to the focus mechanism via this swivel joint. This allows the instrument to be rotated to a horizontal, or aquatic position.
