The microscope body is made of cardboard covered in decorated vellum. There are stained fruit wood collars at the segment junctions.
The microscope body support tube is also cardboard and is covered with dyed leather. It has a finely tooled pattern and stylized palm tree decoration.
Nuremberg microscopes (and telescopes) often had the initials of the maker burned into the base. In the base of the drawer this instrument has "JFF" burned inside of a heart.
