The five objectives are simple bi-convex lenses and are set in this metal objective holder. The two highest magnification lenses (nos. 1& 2) are held in place using a black resin. The larger, lower power objectives (3–5) are sandwiched between the top and bottom plate.
Reverse side of objective holder. Screws hold the two mounting plates together.
The objective slider (arrow) dovetails into reverse side of the eyecup.
Dovetail mounts (arrows) are soldered into the base of the eyecup.
The objective slider is held in place by two strips of spring steel (arrow). The spring is riveted at one end.
