The Ellis microscope is a simple magnifier mounted on a fishskin-covered box.
The mechanical components consists of a square support pillar (B, 10cm), the objective support arm. It friction-fits into the hole on the top of the pillar (arrow).
The stage dovetails in place at the top of the support pillar. Arrow indicates the hole for the objective support arm.
The illuminating mirror is mounted on a gimbal. The shaft presses into a hole in the rectangular support pillar. Mirror diameter = 4.5cm.
The Ellis microscope comes with two objective support arms. One (A) has a permanent, blackened eyecup. The other accommodates the high-magnification objectives.
