The main support pillar screws into the brass base (arrow), which is bolted to the bottom half of the mahogany chest.
The support and focus mechanism centers over the separated mirror. The mirror is also bolted to the base. The mirror has one plain silvered surface. The other side is a smaller circle of clear glass.
The microscope body sets into this cantilevered brass holder. The holder slides along the support pillar as the sample is focused.
Like Cuff's microscope, the body is supported only by the arm.
Two strips of brass form the stage. The top is flat with a tapered hole. A folded strip of brass forms the sample slide holder. It is held to the base of the top piece with rivets. This folded piece acts like a spring stage.
