| Fine focus was accomplished via a thumbscrew mechanism. Turning the screw thread would cause the sliding pillar (supporting the microscope body) to slide against the fixed, support pillar. This focusing mechanism is similar to that found in John Marshall's Great Double Microscope. | ||||
