The microscope body consists of three sections: A: Body tube; B: draw tube; C: eye lens tube. The body tube has two lenses. Assembled, the body is 42cm. The draw tube extends 4-5cm.
The body is made from cardboard glued to a Lignum vitae base. It is lined with cloth and covered with gold-tooled leather.
The Draw tube has a green vellum-covered cardboard section attached (glued) to a Lignum vitae upper section. Vellum added friction to keep the tube in place inside the body.
The polished brass nosepiece is attached to the wooden base by two screws. They have been tooled to match the tooling of the metal base.
