Microscope 116 came with this large, free-standing bi-convex condensing lens (dia=14.5cm, f=81.0cm). The large circular base (dia=16.5cm) supports a turned wood pillar. Attached to the base is a metal shaft (31cm long) that supports a second shaft (15cm). The second shaft is hinged to the support shaft, allowing it to freely rotate. At the end of the second shaft is a device with a triangular end. Presumably this was the mounting point for an accessory oil lamp.

Engraved on the base is "495".

The glass lens is mounted in a metal ring, which is held in place by nails.
