The microscope body is fixed to a rectangular mahogany rail via two brass pillars. The sample stage and condenser are fixed to another pillar attached to a sliding base for focusing.
The entire instrument is screwed to this large, heavy brass base. It has three folding legs.
The body rail is held to the stand by these two screws. The circle is a large compass joint allowing the microscope to be tilted.
The two body support pillars are attached to the body via these tapered brass T-bars.
